current neighbourhood issues

 Transport infrastructure:

  1. The active travel patchwork means it is discouraged and creates many hotspots of traffic conflicts such as St Matthias Park and Trinity Junction.
  2. The Dings does not have a bus service whereas the other neighbourhoods are served by a bus every 5 mins at peak times.
  3. Cars dominate the area, severing it from the city and taking up possible hospitality or pocket park space.

Amenities desert:

  1. The entire neighbourhood does not have a large supermarket which encourages travel out of the area.
  2. Businesses are not supported through outdoor hospitality and pedestrianisation where appropriate such as Old Market Street and Little Ann Street.
  3. Ultimately, this means people travel through but there isn't much to entice them to stay.

Lack of appropriate housing:

  1. The number of affordable housing schemes does not match the demand for the area or the vast amounts of under-utilised land.
  2. Housing that is built is often too high and sucks resources at street level leaving the area worse off.
  3. Public realm is rarely improved as part of developments due to bureaucracy and financial incentives.

getting here

current transport options

Red line - Border of the "Old Market Quarter"

Green lines - Cycle lanes, paths and shared paths

Dark blue spots - Bus stops

Pink stops - Voice e-scooter parking

Yellow lines - Taxi ranks

Old Market Street is a 15 minute walk from both Bristol Temple Meads and Bristol Bus Station.

Please do try to travel to Old Market by other means than a car. If you have to though then you can find us off the M32's third exit or by heading off along Houlton and then Wade Street just before Cabot Circus Car Park, this also avoid the Clean Air Zone.
